Summary of the season 2019

The catches 2019 in numbers and %.

All season was booked up this year, only a few days in week 34 had some space.

The season ended at a total of 186 Salmons and 26 seatrouts. C/R % 71. The total for the river ended at a total of 1906 salmons and 419 seatrouts. C/R % 39. Around 10 % of the total catches in the Stjørdal river is not bad with a 2 km stretch of total 45 km, though we don’t kill more then 2,8% of the total catches. We think this is a good contribution to the future generations of both salmons and fishermen in the river Stjørdal.

The run of salmons was not the best this year, but it seems though that we do have a lot of salmons in our pools all season much because of releasing bigger salons through all season, specially in June. We do hope the spawning goes well also this year with lots of salmons on the banks, but we are a bit afraid that the pressure on the river has been a bit to tough this year with such good fishing conditions that we had in June and July. Time will show and we will be back with an update on this after counting spawning beds in october.

We didn’t post any newsletter in August, so here is a summary of all our August weeks at Hembre:

Week 31 ( 27 July - 3 August ):

Sadly we had to close the river, we felt that was right with only 13-14 m3 in the river and temperatures 21 degrees. Had some time to take some pictures from our farm.

Week 32 ( 3 August - 7 August ):

Some nice days with the family Moursund and friends. Some new guys there this year who really cracked the code on low water fishing.

Ladies Flyfishing 7 - 11 August:

This year it was full booked. 10 ladies had a really good time fishing, casting, eating and talking :-)

Emilie Björkman with her family was here fishing, guiding and helping out together with Hajas our guide on both guiding and cooking. Lots of fun with these ladies and they all booked up for next year.

These pictures tells it all;

Week 33 ( Redd Villaksen ):

Last year we donated 3 days fishing together with our guide Hajas for the auction in Oslo. This is a really nice way to support the wild salmon with some money and for us to to show our fishing Lodge to new people with passion for salmon fishing. Hopefully with good conditions for fishing making them want to come back again :-)

We really do think they want to come back again next year, they had some days of fishing they will never forget. The biggest salmon of the year came this week. 118 cm female from our pool “Bjørngaard”

Camp Villaks 17-18 August:

In cooperation with SJFF and the river border we arranged Camp Villaks at Hembre Camping. 16 youths from all over the country between 14-18 years old had the river for them selves with guiding from volunteers within our organizations. This was a big success. Read all about it here:

Camp Villaks Stjørdalselven

Week 34 ( 19-23 August ):

We had some days not fully booked. Some locals were fishing and we had Sindre here with his father who were the lucky winner of 5 days, 2 rods at Hembre from the fishing contest at the national opening of the fishing season who found place here at Hembre Camping. Also we had our guest Geir Bakken here these days. He has been fishing Hembre since 2005 and this year he made his personal best. ( 110 cm ) Enjoy the release in the video below:

Week 34/35 ( 23 - 27 August )

Some really nice days making new friends from Switzerland. We have to admit it was a sporty thing to do coming up here to do flyfishing for the first time. Not the big catches these days, but we think they learned something about both Flyfishing and other things around the river. Much social and cultural these days also visiting the Hegra Fortres, local brewery Stolt and Hjelseng Farm.

Thanks to a new acquaintance with Jaran Gustavsen for helping out with guiding together with, Tomas Lindholm, Kenneth Löfstrand and Hajas.

Rest of August 27 - 31:

We were hoping for some more water when some of our fishing friends from Sweden came over for the last days. The rain didn’t come so they went to the forest picking some mushrooms instead :-))))

WE HAVE LOTS OF PEOPLE AROUND US TO THANK YOU FOR REACHING THE GOAL OF THIS YEAR’S SEASON, BOTH WORKING WITH US ON THE FARM AND BEING AROUND AS GUESTS WE KNOW FROM MANY YEARS COMING BACK VISITING US.

A BIG THANK YOU TO YOU ALL :-)

BOOKING FOR NEXT YEAR HAS STARTED, A REALLY NICE AUTUMN IS AHEAD OF US NOW AND THEN JUST A SHORT WINTHER AND WE WILL ALL BE READY FOR A NEW SEASON SALMON FISHING AGAIN YEAR 2020.

BEST REGARDS

BEATE AND AKSEL
